VW ID Crozz Electric SUV – Auto Expo 2020 Live

Volkswagen India has unveiled the ID Crozz Electric SUV Concept at the Auto Expo 2020. Showcased at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, the Volkswagen ID Crozz SUV with minor changes was later put on display at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. 

Apart from the ID Crozz unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the German car maker has introduced a host of new cars, such as T-ROC SUV, Taigun as well as a compact SUV built on Volkswagen’ MQB A0 IN platform. 

The Volkswagen ID Crozz, which is in the concept stage at the moment, will hatch into a production model this year, likely to be called the VW ID 4. VW India has confirmed that this production model will be launched in India within 2 years.

Based on the MEB platform, the ID Crozz SUV comes with conventional front-hinged doors and cantilever-styled doors on the rear. As per the Volkswagen, the ID Crozz interior is similar to the Tiguan Allspace. The boot space of ID Crozz is 515 litres. Talking of the concept SUV dimensions, it has a length of 4,625mm, width of 1,891mm, height of 1,609 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,773mm. 

The VW ID Crozz electric SUV is powered by a 83 kWh lithium-ion battery that sends power to the 102hp/140Nm electric motor at the front as well as 204hp/310Nm electric motor at the rear. The two electric motors together generate a peak power of 306 hp and 450 Nm torque. According to Volkswagen, the electric SUV comes with a driving range of 500 km and a top speed of 180 km/h. 

The production Volkswagen ID Crozz electric SUV is expected to be priced around the INR 35 lakh mark in India (ex-showroom). Globally by the year 2025, Volkswagen plans to achieve a 1.5 million unit sales target per year for electric vehicles.
