TVS iQube launched in Delhi, priced at INR 1.08 lakh

TVS Motor Company is finally expanding the availability of the iQube, which is its first electric scooter developed from the ground up. The TVS iQube is available in Delhi as well, at INR 1,08,012 on-road, much cheaper than Bengaluru, where the on-road price is INR 1,15,000, and that’s because of the availability of a state government subsidy.

The TVS iQube price in Delhi includes a 3-year/50,000 km warranty, 1-year road side assistance, 1-year SmartXonnect advanced subscription, lifetime SmartXonnect basic features and standard accessories. The booking can be made through the company website and select dealerships with a deposit INR 5,000. Below is the TVS iQube price breakup:

With about 290 units sold since the launch in January last year and availability restricted to Bengaluru, sighting a TVS iQube on the street is a special moment. In September 2020, youtube.com channel Aashaanz Vlog had put up a video showing the new TVS electric scooter in Kerala. This is possibly the only unit of the TVS electric scooter in the state, either privately shipped or a dealer demo unit.

The TVS iQube is the second production TVS electric scooter after the TVS Scooty Teenz Electric from 2008. EVs have improved remarkably since the first model arrived, and the iQube is a modern product. It is a fact that TVS is not making money on its electric scooter and the launch is a part of its experience curve in the EV segment.

Aimed at the “Green and Connected” youth of India, the iQube comes with an “advanced electric drivetrain” and TVS’ SmartXonnect platform. It is powered by a 2.25 kWh Li-Ion battery and a 5.9 hp/140 Nm electric motor that give it a range of 75 km on a full charge (in Eco mode), a 0-40 kmph acceleration time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 78 kmph. The TVS electric scooter’s stopping power comes from front and rear disc brakes of 220 mm and 130 mm diameter.

Through the SmartXonnect system, TVS offers the iQube app which has features such as Geo-fencing,  Remote Battery Charge Status, Navigation Assist, Last park location and Incoming call alerts/SMS alerts. TVS has also included convenience features like the Q-park assist (reverse mode), economy and power riding mode, Day and Night display on the TFT screen and Regenerative braking. LED headlamp & taillamp, illuminated under-seat storage for a full-face helmet and mobile phone charging are some of its other highlights.

The running cost of the new TVS electric scooter over a period of 5 years (at an average usage of 30 km/day) is just INR 9,000 compared to INR 69,000 for a petrol scooter, as per the company.

The iQube is available in white body colour. In Bengaluru, financing options are available through TVS Credit. The main competitors of the TVS iQube are the Bajaj Chetak and the Ather 450X.
