Last week, ElectricVehicleWeb.in published what could be TVS’s electric scooter (TVS Creon) being tested. Now the company has teased the scooter for the first time. A video put up by TVS Motors on Instagram shows a charger and a blurred image of a scooter whizzing past with the caption “Charge. Life. Coming soon.”. You don’t need a lot of imagination to figure out this product.

Nothing is known about the e-scooter at this time but it is expected to carry forward a few of the design nuggets of the TVS Creon electric concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. The e-scooter has been development for the last three years and we guess it would be an electric equivalent to the TVS Jupiter in customer demographic.

The Creon concept was equipped with three high-density Li-Ion batteries and loaded with connected technologies developed in partnership with Intel. The concept was built on a lightweight aluminium frame that offered better stiffness and handling.

The production version will surely have a digital instrument cluster that displays all the information about the scooter including charge status, range information and other connected features such as geo-fencing, navigation and anti-theft. TVS is also expected to offer park assist, regenerative braking and ride modes that have become the new norm.

Considering TVS’s strategy with entering new segments, the electric scooter could be priced competitively to challenge the likes of the Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X. Another major challenge is the availability of scooter. It will be interesting to see where TVS will decide to launch the scooter as the charging infrastructure is nearly nil in India. Like Bajaj, TVS has a large dealership network but the challenge will be selling it in places where customers would not find charging the scooter challenging.

We can expect the scooter to be launched in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune before expanding to other locations. Even with some of its conventional products such as the Radeon, TVS had taken a phase-wise rollout approach.
