Tata Altroz EV Revealed At the Auto Expo 2020

Tata Motors has finally unveiled the much-awaited Altroz EV at the Auto Expo 2020. Based on the versatile ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture and Ziptron technology, the all-new Tata Altroz EV is a premium car.

Powered by the same ZIPTRON powertrain as Tata Nexon EV, the Altroz EV has been spotted testing earlier on the Indian roads. The car comes with a battery that powers a 300-volt AC motor which is mated with a single-speed gearbox. As we all know, the ZIPTRON powertrain has a range of 250-300 km.

The IP67-rated battery packs make use of the lithium-ion cells, making them dustproof and waterproof. The battery charges from 0 to 80 per cent in 60 minutes. The Tata Altroz EV battery packs are caged in high strength steel as well as utilize the liquid-cooling method for cooling.

Tata Motors is providing an 8-year warranty for the battery system. In addition, the leading auto manufacturer claims that this ZIPTRON powertrain will be 90% efficient in comparison to IC engines which are 40% efficient.

The Altroz EV is a compact car and has a length of 3988mm, width of 1754mm, height of 1505mm, and a wheelbase of 2501mm. The Tata Altroz EV features a connected technology that helps users to access the critical vehicle and batteries information, such as vehicle location, charging status and range through a smartphone app.

Tata Motors has already ‘road tested’ this technology for the million kilometres in different terrains, hence it is ready to hit the Indian roads.

Besides the Altroz EV, the Tata Nexon EV is also unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020. The Nexon EV gets a 30.2 kWh li-ion battery that produces 130hp power and 245Nm torque. The car acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 9.9 seconds.

The Altroz EV pricing is quite competitive as Nexon EV price in India is around Rs 15 to 17 lakhs (ex-showroom).
