Bajaj Auto has stopped the production of Chetak understandably in the current lockdown situation, but now reports suggest that the deliveries of Chetak have been delayed till September quarter (July – September).
Bajaj became the first major manufacturer in India to launch an electric scooter by resurrecting Chetak brand, and customer deliveries have begun this month. Bajaj made its first electric scooter available to Pune and Bangalore to start with.
Right on the heels of the Chetak launch, Bajaj Auto is working on new Chetak models and the company has already got the prototypes ready. The expansion of the Chetak line-up has been confirmed by Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto.
Bajaj Auto will study the customer reaction and experience in Pune and Bengaluru for Chetak before launching it in other cities, as stated by Rakesh Sharma, Director – Bajaj Auto.
While Bajaj Chetak been launched amid much fanfare, the company will start deliveries of the Chetak Urbane variant only from May 2020, reports BikeDekho. The Chetak Premium variant though will start to be delivered from February 2020.
The Ather 450 has a sharper and sleeker look, and the design, dare we say, is the more original of the two.
After the hot launch of its Chetak Electric, the biker community in India expected that Bajaj would be taking its battery and motor into the frame of a Pulsar or an Avenger.
The much expected Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been launched at Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom Pune and Bengaluru). Bajaj’s first electric scooter as unveiled last year and is available in two variants – Urbane and Premium – priced at Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 1.15 lakh respectively.
The Chetak, in 6 body colours, will initially be available in Pune and Bangalore (through KTM dealership outlets) with bookings set to open around the time of the launch.
