The MG Motor dealer in Kochi delivered 11 units of the MG ZS EV in a single day last weekend, recording the highest number of electric cars sold by a dealer in a day.
MG launched the ZS EV in India in January, priced at Rs 20.88 lakh for the Excite variant and Rs 23.58 lakh for the Exclusive variant (prices are ex-showroom New Delhi), and as per the company, it received over 2,400 bookings within a few days of the announcement. Last month, MG said it had expanded the availability of the electric SUV to new cities.
The ZS EV is powered by a 44.5 kWh battery pack that offers a range of up to 340 km (ARAI) in a single charge. The battery can be charged to 80 per cent capacity in 50 minutes with a 50 kW DC fast charger. Standard charging time with a 7 kW charger is six to eight hours to reach full capacity. It is driven by an electric motor that makes 105 kW of power and 353 Nm of torque, which can make the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds on to a maximum speed of 140 km/h.
Features of MG ZS EV include three driving modes, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with i-Smart system and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support, dual panoramic sunroof, 6-way electric adjustable driver seat, six airbags, air conditioner with a PM2.5 particle filter, push-button start and more.
The Kochi showroom is part of six new cities that MG made the ZS EV available last month, along with Pune, Surat, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Chennai, taking the total number of cities to 11. The expansion is part of MG’s Phase 2 plan.
MG has also started bookings for the Hector Plus six-seater SUV recently (one that features a mild-hybrid system) and will be launching the car soon.
