JLR partners with Tata Power to setup charging points for upcoming I-Pace

Jaguar Land Rover India has partnered with Tata Power to set up charging infrastructure for JLR’s dealership network and its customers. To start with, Tata Power will be responsible for setting up the skeletal infrastructure with chargers at Jaguar Land Rover’s dealer network of 27 outlets spread across 24 cities.

Tata Power will be installing a range of AC and DC chargers, varying between 7 kW and 50 kW in capacity. The partnership comes at the right time as Jaguar is gearing up to launch the I-Pace electric SUV in the second half of 2020.

Jaguar I-Pace is powered by a 90 kWh Lithium-ion battery that offers a range of 480 km in a single charge. It supports fast charging and can be charged to 80% in just 40 minutes using a 100 kW DC rapid charger. The battery takes just over 10 hours to be charged using a 7 kW home charger. Making the eSUV an all-wheel-drive layout are two electric motors placed at each axle, which make 400 PS of power and 696 Nm of torque pushing the I-Pace from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

Jaguar’s second pure electric car is the next-generation Jaguar XJ saloon that is confirmed for a world premiere in 2020. Land Rover is also working on pure electric vehicles and its first could either be the platform twin of the new XJ or the fifth-generation 2022 Range Rover. All three cars would be based on the MLA (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) are are likely to be introduced in India.
