India can become our strongest markets, says Italy’s Soriano electric motorcycles

Soriano Motori Corp was launched this year by Italy’s Soriano Group which sold its first motorcycle in 1919. As per the company, for over 100 years, the Soriano brand has been associated with the aristocratic lifestyle of mobility and personal freedom. From racing in the French Riviera, to outboard motors on the coast of Catalonia and historically with motorcycles in Madrid, Soriano has history in the automobile industry of Europe.

For the comeback, the company is betting on performance electric motorcycles to represent the “finest Italian design, image, branding, architecture and engineering, that for the first time are being applied to EV motorcycles.”

Aimed at next generation of motorcycle riders, the company unveiled the Giaguaro series (V1 Gara, V1S and V1R) promising the lifestyle, look and feel of what riders love about motorcycles combined with the “intoxication” of a made-in-Italy brand. The motorcycle are manufactured at the company’s facilities in Oggiono and Lecco, towns surrounding Lake Como, Italy. Soriano Motori says design, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), manufacturing, application, integration approaches and systems are established in delivery and production of the three bikes. They are currently available for pre-order and availability is capped at 100 copies. The company’s payment system accepts the British pound (BDP), US dollar (USD), and the Euro (EUR), as well as cryptocurrencies Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC).

The flagship model Giaguaro V1 Gara is powered by a 75 kW (100 hp) peak output electric motor with a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. The Giaguaro V1S gets a 72 kW (96 hp) peak-rated motor and a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. Finally, the Giaguaro V1R produces a 60 kW (80 hp) peak output and a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. The motorcycles are not cheap, and are priced at €25,500 (V1R), €30,500 (V1S) and €32,500 (V1 Gara).

Soriano Motori aspires to set up its Owners and Lifestyle Club for riders with benefits such as access to the best VIP services and lifestyle events, as well as a racing team and brand of apparel and designer goods.

We caught up with Sergio Moroni, the CEO of Soriano Motori, to ask him about his company and his ideas for the Indian market.

Tell us about the presence of Soriano Motori

Yes we are a global firm aiming at all continents. Our model is similar to TESLA, a client would pre-order and pay for his bike and we would build it, but we would inform and show the client through his own private portal with us on the life cycle process of the customized motorcycle.

Are you planning to launch your motorcycle outside Italy, say in India?

Of course India can and will become one of our strongest markets. We have 3 models in this limited edition series of 500 units only as it is the rebirth of our old vintage legacy Soriano brand with its origins in Spain. The rebirth is now in Italy.

India is one of the world’s biggest two-wheeler markets and the EV revolution is brewing this decade..

We are well aware of this, and perhaps at some juncture we will have a showroom and one of our soon to become Soriano Owners Exclusive Clubs for all bike owners and private members. Not to mention competition in Moto GP E.

How many units of the V1 you have sold so far and when can customers expect delivery?

We are only doing a limited edition of 500 of which we’ve sold 45% since May 1st mostly in the USA and Northern Europe. Customers can expect delivery in Xmas this year and all throughout Q1 2021.

What are your production capabilities?

Production will be and must be extremely exclusive for the first comers and buyers. Uniquely anyone can place their orders already now in multiple currencies as well as cryptocurrencies. So we’ve become the 1st pioneers in accepting cryptocurrencies payments as well. This product is a certified #madeinitaly and our engineers are former Ducati and Ferrari employees that have come to work for our family.
