Force Motors has unveiled a new generation shared mobility platform that has been designed and developed for both internal combustion engines and 100% electric drive, with global aspirations.
The new platform, codenamed T1N, is a modular toolkit that has been built not for just the domestic market but also for markets like the Middle East, Africa, ASEAN and South America. Over Rs 1,000 crore has been invested in the development of the monocoque platform that will be the successor to the current range of Traveller models. The 12-15 seater van will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 that opens 5 February.
As segment leaders, we considered it our duty to offer our customers not just what they need but what they aspire for, and hence we set about developing this truly world class next generation platform packaging leading edge technologies in every aspect. We are confident our customers will welcome it.Mr. Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Force Motors
The T1N comes with several first-in-segment features. It is the first vehicle in its category to offer crash and rollover compliance with air bags for driver and co-driver. T1N comes with large ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels with ABS, EBD, EDTC and ESP.
The new platform gets a 2-box construction which keeps the engine outside ensuring low NVH in the passenger compartment. For better ride quality, the T1N gets independent front suspension with transverse parabolic springs, being the first in this segment.
The T1N is loaded with 25 first in segment features that include tilt and telescopic steering, LED DRLs, remote keyless entry, engine start/stop button, USB mirroring for Android and iPhone, plastic fuel tank and reverse camera with park assist.
Force Motors is in the final stage of validation and homologation processes for the vehicle, which will be entering production in the later part of 2020 with a 350 Nm diesel engine as well as a CNG option. The electric variant will be launched in 2021. The company said it is undecided on whether to call it the Traveller or market it under a new brand. The price is expected to be revealed closer to the market launch.
