Electric City car w/ Level 2 Autonomous Driving & 400km range launched in China at Rs 7 lakh

Chinese EV startup, Leapmotor has listed its second electric car, the Leapmotor T03 for sale in China, priced between 65,800 yuan to 75,800 yuan (Rs 7 lakh to Rs 8.07 lakh).

The T03, Leapmotor’s second mass-produced EV, is available in three variants – 400 Standard Edition, 400 Comfort Edition, and 400 Deluxe Edition. The T03 is powered by a 36.5 kWh high-performance lithium battery pack that has a density of 171 Wh/kg and offers a range of up to 403 km (NEDC) in a single charge, making it the model with the longest cruising range in its class.

Driving the T03 is a 55kW motor that makes a maximum torque of 155 Nm. The car supports fast charging and 80 per cent charge can be done in 36 minutes and comes with an 8 year/150,000 km warranty. The first 1,000 customers will get lifetime free roadside assistance, lifetime battery life warranty and free 15-inch wheel upgrades.

Despite its comparatively lesser price tag, the T03 is loaded with many advanced technologies and features. The T03 is the only car in its class to get Level 2 intelligent driving assistance function. Equipped with three cameras and 12 radars, the T03 offers a total of 10 automatic driving assist functions that include low-speed following system adaptive cruise system, lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking and more. Inside there’s an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch landscape-oriented touchscreen infotainment system that supports voice recognition, cloud sync, navigation etc.

The T03 gets three driving modes – Standard, Sports and Economy and a three-level energy recovery system that can improve the battery life by 15 to 25 per cent. This is the first car to be built on the company’s new T platform and measures 3620 mm, 1652 mm and 1577 mm in length, width and height respectively with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm.
