Bajaj Auto has stopped the production of Chetak understandably in the current lockdown situation, but now reports suggest that the deliveries of Chetak have been delayed till September quarter (July – September).
Update – The electric autorickshaw from Bajaj that is scheduled to launch within weeks has been spotted again in Pune by Instagram handle theupshifters. First displayed at the MOVE 2018 Summit, it is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
Bajaj Auto will be developing a new low-cost electric scooter for shared e-mobility service start-up Yulu that could be priced at Rs 30, 000 to Rs 35,000. A report in Moneycontrol.com says that Bajaj has already started to develop the e-scooter to compete against the Chinese players.
Bajaj became the first major manufacturer in India to launch an electric scooter by resurrecting Chetak brand, and customer deliveries have begun this month. Bajaj made its first electric scooter available to Pune and Bangalore to start with.
Right on the heels of the Chetak launch, Bajaj Auto is working on new Chetak models and the company has already got the prototypes ready. The expansion of the Chetak line-up has been confirmed by Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto.
