Bajaj Chetak Urbane deliveries to begin from May 2020?

While Bajaj Auto launched the Bajaj Chetak amid much fanfare, the company will start deliveries of the basic Chetak Urbane variant from May 2020, reports BikeDekho. The Chetak Premium variant will be delivered to customers from February 2020.

Last week Bajaj launched the Chetak Urbane and Chetak Premium at Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 1.15 lakh ex-showroom, respectively. For now, the Chetak is available in Pune and Bengaluru and customers can buy the electric scooter from any of the KTM showrooms in these cities. Customers can also book the Chetak from the brand’s website.

Differences between the variants are mostly cosmetic. The Premium variant is available in four metallic exterior colours that include Indigo Metallic, Hazelnut, Velutto Rosso and Brooklyn Black while the Urbane variant comes in two solid exterior colours of Citrus Rush and Cyber White. The Chetak Premium also gets a metallic wheel colour, tan seat covers, dark grey floor mat and front disc brake that are missing in the Urbane (the lower variant gets drum brake, matt black wheels, black floor mat and Siberian Silver bezels in place of Satin Silver bezels).

Bajaj Chetak Power, Range, and Features

Propelling the Bajaj Chetak is a 4 kW motor that gives it a range of 85 km in Sport mode and 95 km in Eco mode. Chetak’s 3 kWH Lithium-Ion battery does not support fast charging and can be charged to 100% in five hours and to 25% in an hour. The battery life according to the company is 70,000 km. Three free services offered, the first service is at 1,000 km followed by a service interval of 12,000 km.

With the retro-modern design, designers have the Chetak lavished with a round LED headlamp, horseshoe daytime running lights in the front, split design LED tail lamps, triangular side view mirrors, wide seat, alloy wheels and a digital instrument cluster. Features include single-sided suspension, illuminated switchgear, alloy wheels, front disc brake, glove box with illuminated USB port, retractable hook for bags and under-seat storage.

The Chetak Electric also gets a reverse mode to back out of a tight parking space at the touch of a button. Information of the e-scooter can be accessed through an app that can lets you receive notifications in case of an accident or unauthorized access, locate the scooter, riding information and tips.
