Bajaj Chetak gets a dedicated showroom in Pune

Last year Bajaj Auto resurrected the Chetak brand after 14 years as an electric scooter and will launch the product initially in Pune & Bengaluru this month. As the launch draws nearer, the company is constructing a dedicated Chetak showroom in Pune, as seen in this image uploaded by Twitter user Rahul Kate. The second round of cities for the Chetak’s introduction are likely to be Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad.

The price of the e-scooter is expected to be around Rs.1.1 lakh ex-showroom, bookings of which are open already and the deliveries will be starting in January 2020.

The Bajaj Chetak makes use of a 4 kW motor and gets a range of 85 km in Sport mode and 95 km in Eco mode. Chetak’s Lithium Ion battery, which benefits from regenerative braking, can be charged to 100% in five hours and to 25% in an hour, and is IP67-rated. Bajaj will be selling the Chetak with a warranty of 3 years/50,000 km as standard. The company is not offering fast-charging option to preserve the longevity of the battery which is governed by the Intelligent Battery Management System.

The Chetak gets a round LED headlamp with horseshoe daytime running lights, split design LED tail lamps, triangular mirrors, wide seat, alloy wheels and a digital instrument cluster. Other features of the e-scooter include dynamic LED turn indicators, button operated boot lid, charging cable storage, reverse mode etc. The Chetak can be accessed through a dedicated app to know its location, range, charge status and other vitals.

The Chetak’s sole rival is the Ather 450, with competitors Yamaha and Suzuki still testing products or studying the market.
