Bajaj Chetak Electric charging video demo goes up

With its launch programed in January 2020, Bajaj Auto has posted a video of the Chetak Electric charging-up. The clip shows how to charge the e-scooter by retrieving the charger located in the storage compartment and connecting the power source to the socket available under seat.

Bajaj unveiled the Chetak in the month of October, resurrecting the iconic scooter brand in an EV avatar after 14 years. Bajaj said that the bookings for Chetak Electric will be open in January 2020, when the price will also be announced. The scooter will go on sale initially in Pune and Bengaluru.

Bajaj Chetak Electric is expected to be powered by a 4kW motor with a range of 85 km in Sport mode and 95 km in Eco mode. The Lithium Ion battery can be charged to 100% in five hours and to 25% in an hour. It has also been revealed that the Chetak will arrive with a standard warranty of 3 year/50,000 km.

The Bajaj Chetak Electric is expected to be powered by a 4 kW motor and has a range of 85 km in Sport mode and 95 km in Eco mode. The product will arrive with a standard warranty of 3 year/50,000 km.

Key features include LED headlamp, horse-shoe LED daytime running lights, single-sided suspension, illuminated switchgear, alloy wheels, front disc brake, glove box with illuminated USB port, retractable hook for bags and under-seat storage. The Chetak Electric also gets a reverse mode that can be used to back out of a parking space by pressing a button.

The information of the e-scooter can also be accessed through an app that can lets you receive notifications in case of accident or unauthorized access, to locate the scooter, access riding information and tips.

Manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan facility in Maharashtra, the Chetak is the first electric two-wheeler from Bajaj and gets an all-female workforce in the assembly line. Bajaj recently concluded the Chetak Electric yatra that took several Chetaks on a 3,500 km journey across western India through cities to showcase the e-scooter’s reliability and efficiency.
