Ather Energy released an Ather 450X delivery update for different cities last month. In Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai, customer deliveries of the Series 1 and Grey Ather 450X have begun. In Bengaluru and Chennai, deliveries of the White and Green Ather 450X were scheduled to begin last month. Deliveries in Pune were also going to begin last month, although there’s no word on the first units’ colour. Also, payments in Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai are open.
For Hyderabad, Ather Energy said that the construction of the company-owned Experience Center is ongoing. A pop-up location is right outside the upcoming showroom, though, for customers who want to test out the scooter. Moreover, 10 Ather Grid points are up and running, and more are planned.

In Delhi, Ather Energy is still finding a retail partner, and it expects to start deliveries around March. Test rides are available at a temporary location in Saket since last month, though. Delhi customers will benefit from an extra subsidy of INR 14,500 over the INR 29,000 deduction under the FAME-II scheme.
In Kolkata, Ather Energy is finalising its retail partner, but it hasn’t locked in a location. Still, it expected the deliveries to commence this month. In Ahmedabad, deliveries have started and Ather Energy is providing test rides seven days a week. The company has installed three Ather Grid points and plans to install several more soon.
Down South, in Kochi, test rides have begun at a temporary location near Gold Souk Grande. An Experience Center is under construction and was going to be inaugurated this month. In Calicut, Coimbatore and Kozhikode, customers will start receiving scooters in by March.
Ather Energy had started delivering the Ather 450X in the first locations in November having launched the electric scooter in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Pune. The company plans to manufacture up to 8,000 units per month once it moves into its Hosur factory. In images tweeted by the company’s official handle, we can see customers in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad having received their scooters, with the first batch of the Ather 450X Series 1 handed to early-bird customers.
Ather Energy plans to put the Ather 450 Plus and the Ather 450X on sale in a total of eleven cities by March. By the end of the year, there will be at least 27 cities and 14 states where the new electric scooters will be on sale.
Initially, Ather Energy was present only in the south (Bengaluru and Chennai). The company has tied-up with Kataria Group in Ahmedabad, BU Bhandari in Pune and Kamal Motors in Mumbai for the dealerships and workshops.
The Ather 450X is an improved version of the Ather 450, which has been discontinued. It has a 2.61 kWh battery instead of the old model’s 2.4 kWh unit, along with a new and more efficient battery management system (BMS). The new BMS allows 45% speedier charging rate and brings a significant increase in standby time, meaning that the battery won’t drain as easily. The battery cells are also different, 21700-type Li-ion as against the old model’s 18650-type Li-ion.
The Ather 450X packs several performance upgrades and some new features as well. Its main equipment highlight is a new 7-inch touchscreen dashboard with a colour depth of 16M, a Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor, 4G SIM card, Wi-Fi and BlueTooth. There’s also a cheaper version called Ather 450 Plus, with lower performance parameters and the omission of Bluetooth.
