Ather Energy will be launching the Ather 450X electric scooter on 28 January and the e-scooter has been caught testing for the first time by Indian Autos Blog. The 450X is seen painted in a matte black colour, confirming the dark theme Ather has been teasing on social media. The company has confirmed 9 colours for its premium variant in a teaser on Twitter.
Body changes are limited to the paint scheme and the 450X will retain all of the existing features and components. What makes the ‘X’ special is that it gets improved acceleration and a higher top speed. The regular Ather 450 is driven by a 5.4 kW motor with a 20.5 Nm of torque. 0 to 40 km/h sprint comes in 3.9 seconds and the 450 has a top speed of 80 km/h. The co-founder of the company Tarun Mehta has confirmed the 450X will gain new smart features and utility as well. Hence expect an updated 7.0-inch touchscreen digital instrument cluster.
The 450X will be available in 6 cities – Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Delhi-NCR with plans to introduce the model in Kochi, Coimbatore, Kolkata and Ahmedabad soon.
The Ather 450 returns a range of 75 km in Eco, 65 km in Ride and 55 km in Sport mode, which will rise on the 450X. The 450 can be charged at the rate of 1 km per minute with the support of fast charging and takes 4 hours to be charged completely through a regular charger.

With the improved hardware and software, we expect the Ather 450X to be priced considerably more than the 450 which costs Rs 1.14 lakh on-road Bengaluru.
