Previously, twitter.com user Swagat25 had posted a picture that showed the Ather 450X Series1 outside the studio for the first time. Prior to that, Tarun Mehta, co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy, shared a real-life picture of the Ather 450X Series 1 shot in an interior location via his Twitter page. Compared to the press pictures (image gallery at the end of the story), these reveal more details, including the panels. The first photos released by the company were shot in a studio.
The Ather 450X Series 1 has a sportier styling and features colours most commonly associated with performance vehicles – black and red. The main highlight, however, is the translucent panels on the sides, something that’s a first in our market. The tinted translucent panels allow taking a peek inside the scooter and seeing its cast aluminium chassis and trellis frame.
The Ather 450X Series 1 gets ‘DayGlo Red’ as a contrasting colour on ‘Series 1’ and ‘450X’ stickers, the exposed frame and mono-shock suspension below the seat and the dual-tone stripe. To bring the exclusive black and red colour scheme to the 7-inch touchscreen dashboard, Ather Energy has embedded subtle hints of red in its UI. This display features even a special intro screen to add to the exclusivity of the limited-edition model.
The Ather 450X Series 1 specifications are the same as the Ather 450X. There’s a 6 kW/28 Nm motor getting its juice from a 2.6 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack (useable). The rider can choose from four riding modes – Eco, Ride, Sport and Warp. The Warp mode allows a 0-40 km/h acceleration time of 3.3 seconds. This mode makes these scooters quicker than all the electric scooters and all the petrol scooters with engines of up to 125 cc in India.
The top speed of the Ather 450X and its Series 1 edition is 80 km/h, and their range is 116 km (Indian Driving Cycle)/85 km (TrueRange). Charging their battery pack at home from 0% SoC to 80% SoC/100% SoC takes 3 hours and 35 minutes/5 hours 45 minutes. Using a fast charger, it is possible to charge up from 0-50% SoC at a rate of 1.5 km/min.
