Ather 450X, Ather 450 Plus & Ather app receive updates

Ather Energy is rolling out an update for the Ather app on iOS and Android, as per an official post on forum.atherenergy.com. The final update in 2020 is for a few performance improvements and bug fixes. Thanks to better coding, owners of the Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus will be able to see the colour and name reflected correctly in the Ather app now. The new, v3.6.5 Ather app was released on the Google Play Store on 23 December 2020 and on the App Store on 24 December 2020.

In another post on forum.atherenergy.com, Ather Energy has admitted that the experience of early Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus owners with the dashboard of their scooters as well as the Ather app hasn’t been great. While the app has been fixed and improved, the dashboard is likely to undergo a revision in 2021.

The shift to Android for the dashboard’s operating system, as well as some unnoticed issues during testing and some breakdown in communication between internal tools, are being stated as the reasons for the unsatisfactory experience. Ather Energy is waiving off the charges for the Ather Connect Lite/Pro plans from the purchase date till the OTA update is released to fix the code.

Just a few days before acknowledging the issue, Ather Energy had rolled out an OTA update for the Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus that consisted of two new features and several improvements:

• [New Feature] A splash screen for Ather 450 Plus
• [Bug Fix/Improvement] Improvements and fixes for navigation display on the dashboard and sending navigation from the Ather app
• [Improvement] Enhanced syncing of docs uploaded on the Ather app
• [Improvement] More dimming of dashboard brightness when auto-brightness enabled
• [Bug Fix] More bug fixes

Deliveries of the Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus have begun in cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune and Ahmedabad. Ather Energy had shared a status update for pending deliveries in different cities recently.
