Welcome to Electric Vehicle Web!

Hello reader!

I’m Shrawan Raja, your editor, and welcome to ElectricVehicleWeb.in, an ambitious effort out of India to open up a new experience to electric vehicle enthusiasts and prospective buyers with exclusive news reports, video walkthroughs & reviews as well as interviews. In my first post I’m presenting answers to all questions you’d have about this venture.

Who are you & what inspired you to launch Electric Vehicle Web?

I’m a 32-year old automobile engineer and having founded and edited successful websites for ten years serving 100s of million of pageviews, traveling the globe, driving new vehicles and talking to the people behind it, I’m convinced that the next generation automobile does not come with a combustion engine. More on that later.

I am based out of Chennai (the Detroit of Asia) which plays host to a significant percentage of India’s vehicle production including electric vehicles. I love cricket and dogs, and I spend time everyday practising yoga, studying religious scripture, and the works of Neville Goddard, Joseph Murphy & Earl Nightingale. My daily drive is a thrifty Suzuki Ignis (Maruti Ignis) and my other ride is an unspecified SUV! I would be in the market say within two years to purchase my first electric car.

What is Electric Vehicle Web?

The name is a dead giveaway – it is a portal designed to educate audience, chiefly from India, about the electric vehicle market and its offerings. The website will be updated everyday with information about new and upcoming electric two- and four-wheelers, as well as innovations in the EV scene from the Indian community. The website will strive to do exclusive reports and interviews from the thriving global EV scene.

What is the goal of this website?

Our ambition is to test every significant EV model that will eventually be on the shopping list of the EV customer. We wish to stay closely connected with all the stakeholders to become a barometer of the local EV market. We also intend to offer a deep experience for young India that aspired to educate itself about electric vehicles and stay future-ready.

How many electric vehicles have you experienced?

I traveled to Portugal in 2011 to partake in the global media drive of the Renault Fluence EV and the Renault Kangoo EV. In the last few years I’ve had a chance to spend time inside the Nissan Leaf, the Hyundai Kona and very recently the Tata Tigor EV. I have also ridden electric scooters from Ather Energy and Ultra Motor, and with this website, I wish to evaluate every ‘real’ EV in the world.

I’d like to thank Rush Parekh of team-bhp.com, Gokulraj GK of MyCopie/MadCap, Manoj C of ThePositiveStore, Sandeep Raju, Mr Ashish Sinharoy, and other friends and family members who shared valuable inputs and the necessary encouragement for me to restart my career in automotive reporting.

  1. Hi
Great work. I have a simple question. My name is jesin. I have been thinking about buying a new car. Honda city is my preferred choice. As i came to know that honda is about to launch a new generation city so chose to wait as love that machine very much. Do you have any idea when its going to be launched in India. Somewhere i read it’ll only launch in second half of 2020. Honda civic launched the new generation in march last year so i thought it’ll be the same case for city. Do you have any information about that? Waiting for your replay 😊

    • Hello Jesin, Honda has upgraded the current City to BS6 norms and dispatched vehicles to dealers as well signifying that it is in no hurry to bring down the new Honda City. We understand that the new City is not hitting dealerships this fiscal year.

  2. Hi,
Do you have information about the lithium ion battery manufacturing in India? I am talking about complete manufacturing and not assembly of components. Is there any one who is manufacturing anode & cathode here in India or they are getting from other countries and assembling whole thing here.
Please suggest if any information about this.
